A great season ends

E-mail
Dear esteemed Guests and Friends of Mara Bush Camp !

As the November rains have set in early, we have now closed Mara Bush Camp until mid December. This gives us ample time to thank all of you in form of this e-mail for your visit to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve this year and especially to our beloved Mara Bush Camp ! Thank you also for the fantastic support we received for the Olare Orok School and your helpful comments and feedback.

A wonderful season lies behind us and we are grateful for the unique and spectacular game sightings that we and our guests were lucky enough to encounter ! With rather unpredictable rainfall in August and September, the migration pattern of the wildebeest had changed this year and the large wildebeest and zebra herds departed the Mara plains much earlier than in the past years to start their annual trek back to the Serengeti National Park.

The big cats provided plenty of fantastic photo opportunities though and sightings such as the rare Caracal and Serval Cat were some of the highlights of the season.  Hippos, Giraffes and Elephants were our immediate neighbours at the camp as usual.

Next to the classic game drives we had numerous clients who enjoyed our night game drives outside the reserve with our camp guide Dennis. Also popular were our guided bush walks with the armed Maasai Rangers. A wonderful experience was also provided in form of our romantic candlelight bush dinners, partcularly attractive to honeymooners and first time visitors.

Our newly built  lounge tent has become very popular for all guests seeking more privacy and space to download their images on our specially constructed wooden tables each having its own power point. Families with children as well as anyone who wanted to get away from the bar and main lounge had an opportunity to enjoy even more peace and tranquility. Another highlight, particularly for the ladies was the introdution of our very own Mara Bush Camp shop where souvenirs, locally made jewellery, other attractive decorative items found their way into clients suitcases. We are especially grateful to everyone who has given us valuable feedback on what to buy and change.

Our charity project, the small Olare Orok Maasai School was well received by everyone. Out of 100 school children, 42 have meanwhile received their school packages which include writing materials, exercise books etc. for as little as 600/- Kenya Shillings per package. These school packs have mainly been delivered by our own guests to the school direct, much to the delight of the children and also the adults who were fascinated to see the joy on the faces of the young Maasai kids.
A general contribution by Families Hable / Heser to purchase 2 large metal boxes where the school things could be stored was well received by the school. We are now committed to extending this project further and we will shortly send more news on our support for the the Olare Orok School.

As we are preparing for the Christmas / New Year’s season we would like to remind you of the beautiful memories that are created out in the African Bush, especially during a stary clear night sky, surrounded by sounds of nature. We still have some availability on selective dates over this period and I would love to welcome you once again or receive recommendations of any family and friends, that could be interested in a stay at our Mara Bush Camp.
A beautiful period to visit Kenya is also February and March, when some of the European Countries offer their mid-term holidays. This time is especially wonderful for wildlife enthusuiasts and photographers who wish to photograph birthings and young animals. With the excellent location of Mara Bush Camp, the wildlife sightings could hardly be  more exciting !  This time is great for families with children for a first time Africa Visit !

We thank you once again for your interest and your visits to Mara Bush Camp! We wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR ! For those who have booked their stay with us in the near future, we look forward to welcoming you at our Camp !
