Guest Information A - Z

 

Bonfire: will be lit for all our clients from 6.00 pm onwards. Bitings will be served. You can order some delicious drinks from your waiter while enjoying your sun downer.

 

Camp site fees: kindly note that your camp site fees are included in your package.

 

Cow Bell / Whistle: There is a cow bell fixed outside your tent, pls. ring it if you need any assistance or would like to have waiter / bar service at your tent. The whistle on your bed side table is for your safety. Pls. only use it in a case of emergency. The Askaris (watchmen) will then come to your tent immediately.

 

Drinking water: kindly note that you will have 1/2 litre of complimentary bottled water in your room on a daily basis. Pls. remember to use this water also for brushing your teeth.


 

Drinks: All Beverages are sold at the Mess tent. Your waiters will be handing a voucher / receipt to you for all drinks consumed. Kindly sign these and put your tent number on them. You will receive your final bill at the end of your stay just before your departure. You can then make all payments for your beverages in cash.

 

Flush Toilets: pls. flush toilets sparingly. Every flush uses 12 liters of water which is drawn by hand from the spring / river.

 

Game Drives: for clients who have booked a flight package all game drives are performed in the camp’s safari equipped Landcruisers. (usually early morning / afternoon game drive). Pls. note that the vehicle will be shared with other clients. Should you require sole use of the vehicle pls. book it in advance. Kindly check your extra activities info.

 

Hot water bottle: We are happy to offer you a hot water bottle for the night on request. An extra blanket can also be requested in case you feel cold.


Laundry: Pls. note that we shall charge you Kshs. 100/- for any item of clothing. Half the amount will go to the stewards / Maasai for washing & ironing your clothes (with a charcoal iron). Weather permitting the item will be washed / ironed the same day and returned to you. You can leave your laundry items in the tent (basket) and inform your camp Manager to have it washed before going on game drive. A detergent is provided in all tents for any personal items (underwear). If you throw your towels on the floor, your tent steward will take them for washing.


Meals: All meals will be served in the main mess area. We request all guests to assemble in the main dining area by 7.45 pm so that dinner can be served for everyone at 8.00 pm (20.00 hrs). Your meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner during an overnight stay. Extra lunches are payable direct @ USD. 20.00 / Kshs. 1,400/- per Person.

 

Morning Coffee / Tea: will be served in the main mess tent. However, we will be happy to offer you early morning coffee and tea to be served at your tent, kindly give your order to your waiter / camp Manager the night before.

 

Payment: Pls. note that we do not accept credit cards. All payments for extras will have to be done in cash. (Kenya Shillings, Euro or USD)


Picnic breakfast / lunch: kindly brief your guide the day / evening before you would like to go out with a picnic breakfast or lunch for the next day so that all can be prepared in time.


Power supply: Kindly charge all your photographic equipment in our administration tent which is situated near the main mess tent. Ideal are evening hours as the generator will be on from 18.30 hrs to 23.00 hrs daily. Mara Bush Camp is environmentally friendly. All camp lights are working on solar power, we kindly request you to switch off your lights in the tents when you go for dinner in order to conserve energy.

 

Private dinners: you may enjoy dinner from the privacy of your own tent terrace, weather permitting – kindly inform your waiter / Manager by lunch time about this arrangement so that your table can be prepared accordingly.

Showers: Because Mara Bush Camp is eco-friendly, we are offering bucket showers. The water is heated by Parafin. Kindly note that all water for showers / washing comes from a nearby spring / water station in Talek village. The water is treated and hence completely safe. Pls. inform your room steward about what time you would like to take your shower – the water is being warmed up for your comfort, it therefore takes approx. 20 min. to get the shower water ready and hot.

Tea / coffee: is available for all camp guests all day long at no extra cost. Pls. feel free to serve yourself from our coffee / tea station in the main mess tent.

Tipping Guideline: You are most welcome to tip any member of staff individually. However, there will be a tip box in the mess tent (main tent) where clients are free to put in their tips – these will be shared among all staff members, except your driver/guides who we request you to tip direct and at the end of the safari. We recommend approx. Kshs. 400/- to Kshs. 500/- per client per day for the entire camp staff.

 

Wake up call: pls. inform your Camp Manager / waiter about your wake up call in the morning.

 

YOUR SAFETY: Pls. note that Mara Bush Camp is NOT fenced, hence vigilance is recommended. However, there are Maasai watchmen guarding the camp 24 hrs. Do not at any time wander out of the camp as you are surrounded by wild animals. If you do walk out after darkness alone we cannot guarantee your safety and you are doing so on your own account. Mara Bush Camp will not be held liable in case of any incidence. When walking to the mess tent for dinner, pls. ring the cow bell outside your tent and an askari will come promptly to escort you to the mess tent. DO NOT WALK ALONE under any circumstance.


Your valuables: We do not provide a safe where your valuables can be deposited. Hence, kindly keep your money with you at all times / any jewellery you may have carried.
